Top Sports Cars to participate in Art of the Passes

The journey to the quaint Klein Karoo town of Barrydale is always a spectacular drive and it does not matter from which part of the country you approach this beautiful part of the world, drivers will always encounter one (or more) of South Africa's most beautiful mountain passes on the way.

From 11 to 13 August scores of sports car enthusiasts will be doing exactly that. They will be participating in The Art of Passes - a tailor made weekend for rare machines and their quirky owners.

"Thanks to Craig Harper of Harper Sports Cars we can confirm that several unique sports cars will be arriving in Barrydale that weekend and we are excited to treat them to unrivaled small town hospitality," said Karoo Art owner Rick Melvill.

Exploring the Tradouw Pass

"An absolute highlight of the weekend will be the Saturday morning ride-out on the majestic Tradouw Pass where we hope to capture the beauty of these vehicles on a breathtaking stretch of road."

Rick highlighted that this will by no means be a road race for speedsters, but rather a display of some of the best locally manufactured (and other) sports cars.

Harpers Sports Cars owner Craig Harper added that while drivers of several rare AC Cobras, Porches, Alpha Romeos and other classic cars will travel to the hotel to share stories and ideas, the idea is for participants to also discover the heart of Barrydale and its friendly people.

“We are expecting a lot of grassroots car owners and people who love to work on their own cars and we are equally excited to see what else this town has to offer.

Craig added that a full day's worth of activities are being planned for the partners of owners who may not be as enthusiastic about the motoring industry.

On the Saturday evening the Belanti Hall will again be party central and for this occasion the brilliant Brandon Lee Hunt will provide the live entertainment.
